Code Payments let in-person (physical store) accounts display a QR code at the counter for customers to scan and pay. This supports PayPay, Alipay+, and WeChat Pay.
Requirements for Using Code Payments
Code Payments are available to merchants who meet all of the following conditions:
- Have an in-person (physical store) account
- Are in Live mode
- Are approved to use a Code Payment method (PayPay, Alipay+, or WeChat Pay)
Accepting a Payment with Code Payments
On iOS, start from the "Code Payments" tab; on Android, tap "Create."
Enter the amount (Japanese yen only). You can also add a memo of up to 40 characters.
Under "Select Payment Method," choose PayPay, Alipay+, or WeChat Pay.
A QR code is displayed. Have your customer scan it to complete the payment.
Once the payment is complete, you'll see "Payment Complete!" From there, choose "Accept Next Payment" to continue, or "View Payment Details" to review the transaction.
The QR Code Refreshes Automatically
The displayed QR code refreshes automatically after a set period of time. The screen shows a message such as "This code will refresh in [time remaining]," so you can see how much time is left.
I See "Code Payments are only available in Live mode."
Code Payments can only be used in Live mode, by design. If you open Code Payments while in Test mode, you'll see the message "Code Payments are only available in Live mode," and you won't be able to create a payment. Go to More Mode switching (labeled "Switch Mode" on Android) to switch to Live mode.
I See "Please apply for Code Payments from the KOMOJU website."
This message appears when you haven't yet been approved for any in-person payment method (such as PayPay, Alipay+, or WeChat Pay). Please apply for the payment method you'd like to use with Code Payments from the KOMOJU Dashboard (web).
The QR Code Won't Display, or the Payment Code Can't Be Created
If you see "There's a connection problem. Try moving to an area with a better signal," this means the payment code couldn't be retrieved due to a network issue. Move to an area with a stronger signal and try again.
If you see "We couldn't create a payment code," this can also be caused by network conditions or a temporary issue. Try the action again. If the problem continues, check that you're in Live mode and that your payment method has been approved.
